Tairua Library invites you to show your creativity and have fun in the Wearable Arts Fashion Show planned for Wednesday, September 16 at the library.

You are invited to make a wearable garment with Maori or recycled materials and enter in one of the following categories.

Connection – Tuta te Hononga, Musical – Ahua Puoro, Cultural – He Ara Tangata, Recycled – Waihangatia Ano, Environment – Tiaki Talao, and Gods/Deities – Nga Atua. This is a part of coming together and embracing Te reo Week.

Entries will need a model to wear the design and walk the runway.

Librarian Kayla McCallum says she is seeing a good response to the event.

“It has been fantastic seeing all the creative ideas and the work that is being put into the costumes.

All ages are welcome to take part and have a chance to win a prize. Kayla says closing date for entries has now been extended to Monday, 14 September. You can register your interest or find out more by emailing kayla.maccallum@tcdc.gov.nz.
