The Thames Music Group welcomes back the Auckland Youth Choir, directed by David Squire and accompanied by pianist Claire Caldwell. The choir was last in Thames in 2024, and had recently won a gold medal at the World Choir Games, this time, they have not long returned from their first international tour in 7 years, having taken a group of 47 singers to Australia to attend the Festival of Voices.
Auckland Youth Choir is a 130-strong mixed voice group of singers aged 16–27 from across the city. The choir was set up in 1984 to bridge the gap between school and adult choirs and has had significant success since with innovative performances, large membership growth and collaborations with some of New Zealand’s preeminent musicians and arts organisations. AYC celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2024.
Auckland Youth Choir concerts have been a highlight of the Thames Music Group Sunday concert series, and this concert is bound to be a treat for your ears!
