Once again what an epic weekend last weekend at the Coroglen Tavern for our Annual Take a Kid Hunting Competition. With a record staggering 171 entries of children ageing from 0-16year olds. Our biggest number of entries to date.

There were four categories and two age groups 0-8 and 9-16yrs. The four categories were Pigs, Snapper, Possums and Rabbits. Which the children could enter. Also a record of 51 Pigs were weighed in and also some pretty good sized snapper as well as a huge amount of both possums and rabbits. They certainly made a dent in removing some unwanted animals out of our environment and a few tasty snapper as well.

All Pigs and snapper were headed for the table, the possums were off to be plucked (and used for pet food as no poisons were allowed to be used in their deaths) and the rabbits were donated to the Project Kiwi Trust in Kuaotunu to be used in their traps for bait. So a great resource being utilised and a great lesson being taught to our children that feet on the ground is better than using toxic poisons in our Environment.

A lucky young Hunter also walked away with a epic Spot prize of a Scenic Helicopter flight for 2 donated by Dan Mulligan from Rotor Works Whitianga. A huge Thankyou to all our Sponsors with your support it helps make this event possible and keeps our hunting heritage alive for future generations.

Thankyou to our Sponsors:  Okuma, The Stunned Mullet, Hunting and Fishing Whitianga, BCA Building Contractors, Earth Prep – Gary Wharton, Rotor Works – Dan Mulligan, PC Electrical, Custom Towing, Combat Zone – Eric Gaskell, Whitianga Ice, Buffalo Beach Four Square, Terry Howard, Dive Zone, Farm Source RD1, Pinkys, Banana Boat, Wheels Within Walls, Glasshouse Emporium, The Warehouse Whitianga, CFM Radio, Dutchy’s Fishing Store Tairua, Scott Barrington, The Coroglen Tavern, DOC and Environment Waikato.
