PlaceMakers One Base Comp

A crowd of over 300 men and about 20 women gathered  at Mercury Bay Bay Club in Whitianga for the prizegiving for PlaceMakers ONE Base annual fishing competition. 400 anglers in 80 boats had been out on the ocean from early hours Saturday. It was a roar of good nature and camaraderie as the prize winners received their generous prizes all made possible by PlaceMakers and their team of sponsors.

The awards for the best catches were followed by a very large section of spot prizes. MC Warren Male of CFM did an intrepid job of auctioning some very high-end items such as stainless-steel BBQ’s and smokers.

The income from these auctions went to support the work of the Te Tiihi Nui Trust in Whitianga the special needs young adults who need to find a home, employment and a sustainable life in their community. The Trust had presented a Go Kart for raffling over the weekend.

This event involved anglers from young boys to the other end of the spectrum with the Gold Card Plus One team who also won the best dressed team prize.

Well done PlaceMakers!
