There were so many to help at Williamson Park for the Matariki celebrations – setting the hangi, serving it, and of course there were so many more enjoying the feast and being together picnic style.
The outdoor stage came to life at 1.30pm with games, a dance competition, a concert featuring kapa haka presentations. Lots of stalls lined the area making it an occasion that involved so many in the community. Whangamata celebrated Matariki well. What a wonderful day it was – music, dancing, hangi and great weather.
