Weekend expo to feature around 300 artworks

01 Jun 2021

A stunning array of around 300 locally made artworks are set to be part of the Whitianga Lions Club Art Expo which takes place this weekend (4 to 6 June).

More than 30 artists from across Mercury Bay are participating in the event with $80,000 worth of work available to purchase over the three days. With a huge selection of media and styles, and prices ranging from $15 to $2,400, there’s something for everyone’s taste and budget, and visitors of all ages will enjoy wandering through the displays at the Whitianga Town Hall.

Mosaic, bronze and ceramic sculpture, quilts, pottery, photography, drawings and paintings in a whole range of media (including oil, watercolour, pastel and dyes on silk), will combine to create an amazing showcase. A percentage of all sales will be given to the Whitianga Lions Club who will put the funds towards the development of a purpose-built home for the Whitianga MenzShed.

The expo will be open on Friday, 4 May, from 5:30 to 8:30pm (with drinks and nibbles), Saturday, 5 June from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday, 6 June from 10:00am to 1:00pm. All visitors will receive a catalogue with details of the artworks exhibited, including prices.
