On 13th August the club held their Mid-Year Social in the Whitianga Town Hall. Members from all-ability classes attended including Absolute Beginners, Beginners, Improvers and Seniors. The committee, led by Wendy Whittaker, excelled themselves with a black and white theme including colour- coordinated balloons, photos, cake and table attire.

An extraordinary presentation was made to the delightful Glynis Quinn – it being her last day teaching the Absolute Beginners and Beginners classes. Glynis has been tirelessly teaching line dancing in the Mercury Bay for 8 years, alongside her very good friend and fellow teacher, Margaret Tucker. However,  Glynis is not fully retiring from dancing as she will continue to support the two more advanced groups till the end of the year.

Words from Margaret’s speech: ‘Glynis and I worked well together from the very start. We formed a bond and knew we had the same vision. We have a lovely friendship, and I am eternally grateful to Glynis’.

Whitianga Line Dancing Club is looking for more teachers. Margaret is at pains to explain that past teaching experience is not required as help and support will be forthcoming. If you are passionate about line dancing and think you could be of support, please contact Margaret on 027 463 8850.
