Armouring the foreshore

 |  Peter Wood  |
Managed or ‘ordered’ retreat is not the answer to the sea’s erosion and it is rising.

Armouring the foreshore is the answer. Just note the rock wall protecting Buffalo Beach Road and adjoining valuable properties.

This action needs to be regularised by designing an interlocking block that can be handled into position by concerned citizens.

The content of the block can use many sorts of waste materials.

So has anyone got a diagram of an interlocking block suitable for armouring the foreshore?

Being small and readily movable it will not need authority permits but be quickly available to remedy weather event damage.

Designing this block/brick is perhaps a matter for the new AI app, as it is beyond most fold.

Promotion of sea wall simplistic and parochial

The Informer’s promotion of a seawall for a few coastal properties is simplistic and parochial. It’s as if only Buffalo Beach has coastal hazards when every coastal community has them.
