Replacement Pontoon For Pauanui

TCDC is pleased to advise that the replacement pontoon for the Royal Billy Point Boat Ramp has officially been ordered, and the manufacturing process is underway.

The new pontoon will replace the facility lost during the January 2026 flood event and has been specifically designed for commercial marine applications, providing a durable long-term solution for boat ramp users.

Estimated Installation Date

Provided manufacturing, shipping and customs processes proceed as expected, Council anticipates installation of the new pontoon during the week from 23 November 2026.

While this remains subject to factors outside Council’s control (such as international freight schedules, weather and customs clearance), the project remains on track for completion well before the busy summer boating season.

Council will continue to keep the community updated as the pontoon progresses through manufacturing and shipping, and we thank Royal Billy Point users for their patience while this important facility is reinstated. The Royal Billy Point Boat Ramp is located at 1 Vista Paku, Pauanui, on the Tairua Harbour adjacent to the Pauanui Wharf.
