A busy tool and machinery sale and an unclaimed World War 11 box

The Whitianga MENZSHED’s  raised over $2000 toward their new shed last Sunday, 18 February at their Tool and Machinery Garage Sale. It was busy and profitable and the space of their existing shed was a clear message to the community of just how much more space the MenZshed needs. It is estimated that the new shed will cost around $300k. The current shed is 70 square metres the new shed will be 360 square metres. “We need to raise a third of the cost ourselves before we can approach Lotto and other groups for funding,” said Glenn Schache, President of Whitianga MENZSHED. Darts is the winner at Coroglen Tavern

If walls could talk, The Coroglen Tavern would have a number of interesting stories to tell. More than a few of those tales would centre on the traditional pub game of darts. The well-known landmark tavern, situated on the corner of State Highway 25 and the Tapu-Coroglen Road, is the home of the Coroglen Darts Club, officially formed on 9 May 1968, almost fifty-five years ago. If enthusiasm could grow a club by 200% then Rose is the winner. “You can’t go wrong with darts,” says Rose. “You don’t need to be very sporty. You can still achieve at darts. However, once you start getting to the...

Richard’s comments were about Graeme’s very hard work, his achievements with the Trust and the complex nature of dealing with District Health Boards, ACC and various funding teams. • His love for the work of St John and...

‘No room at the Club’, means a new garden club

So, I heard about the garden clubs around Whitianga and Cooks Beach, where I could make friends and gather support as I created beautiful garden beds around my property at Annabells B&B.   I made about 10 phone calls and after several conversations, I was told that all the local Garden Clubs are full and there was ‘no room at the Inn’, so to speak. In the meantime, I organised a street party for my very good neighbours on Tarapatiki Drive in December and met a delightful neighbour, Megan.  Together we started talking about making friends with others who had beautiful gardens...
