Twenty-four fish weighed in snapper tournament

Seventy-nine anglers fishing off 29 boats participated in the Mercury Bay Game Fishing Club’s Snapper Tournament on Saturday last week. Twenty-four fish were weighed. The prize pool was made up of the entry fees.

Mark Phillips (vessel Corblimey) took out first spot with a snapper weighing 8.91kg. For his effort, he took home an amount of $790. In second place was Mark Franklin (vessel GnT) with a fish weighing 8.17kg. He pocketed $434. Vance Fulton (vessel GnT) rounded out the top three with a snapper of 8.15kg. He received $316 in prize money.
