Mercury Bay Art Escape just seven weeks away!

Lock in the first two weekends of March for Mercury Bay Art Escape Escape 2023 . Open Studios style Mercury Bay Art Escape is all go for the first 2 weekends in March 2023, Friday 3 March-Sunday 5 March and Friday 10 March to Sunday 13 March. 41 artists from Tairua to Matarangi are preparing to welcome art lovers to their open studios. With 15 new members, and a variety of new mediums, Mercury Bay Art Escape promises to be an exciting creative journey for our visitors. Each stop promises different art and a delightful journey through a very beautiful part of the world – Coromandel Peninsula. In conjunction with the release of the 2023 Art Guide, we are excited to announce the launch of our newly refreshed website with current local art events, information on artists and open studios, workshops and art news in the area. Collect an Art Guide available from I-sites, Libraries and local cafés or download from our new website. Gala Event to Open Art Escape Kicking off with the Gala event at 6pm on Friday 3 March at Hot Waves Café in Hot Water Beach, the Art Escape will be opened by treasured New Zealand gardening writer and broadcaster – Lynda Hallinan. Integrating art and nature, Lynda’s favourite gardens are those that double as both a work of planted art, and as a space to share and showcase the work of other creative minds. Tickets to the Gala event can be purchased from our new website or at Hot Waves Café. Visit Hot Waves Café here you can view the Artist’s Showcase Exhibition that features one work from each member and group. Call in to Hot Waves Café for lunch or brunch from March 5 – April 11. Vote for your favourite artwork and the artist with the most public votes wins the coveted People’s Choice Award. Make the first two weekends in March 2023 a great time to escape to Mercury Bay to spend some quality time sharing exciting art, good food, great scenery and wonderful hospitality.
